Solar boiler absorption plate

The requirement

We want to give our absorber plates the necessary rigidity in a cost-efficient manner. In addition, the flatness of the flange edge is of essential to the next step; bonding a glass plate, which is carried out in house.

Our advice

After intensive consultation with the customer, it became clear that the size of the embossment (which gives the plate rigidity) proved to be of secondary importance. This makes it possible to press several plates simultaneously. The final number was determined experimentally, also depending on the material choice of course. We chose specially pre-treated aluminium with a thickness of 0.8 mm. In addition, we determined the results in the test phase in such a way that no finishing needs to take place after pressing.

The competitive advantage

By using this phenomenon – one of the major advantages of the rubber pad forming technique – we were able to easily determine how many plates could be pressed at the same time. Combined with the elimination of any finishing, we have created a huge cost benefit. Secondary benefit; rubber pad forming does not cause any damage to the coated surface. In many cases, this would indeed be absolutely unacceptable!
