Rock-Zone is a company operating in, among others, the concrete recycling market. Their stone crusher was in need of enhanced distinctiveness compared to standard products on the market. A designer was therefore commissioned to give the product the desired high-end design look. Mission successful. Rock-Zone received a red dot award for the ‘restyle’ of their stone crusher. The next challenge? Produce covers that are robust enough for the environment in which they are deployed. It has been shown that plastic does not meet this requirement.

Due to the way the machine is used in practice, we have opted for a sheet metal thickness of 3 mm. The shape gives the product sufficient rigidity to ensure that it can actually withstand a knock. Due to the detailing in the product, it is necessary to press the products in two dies. This will enable us to neatly incorporate the small radii in the cover.

The cover provides much-needed protection for the internal and more vulnerable parts of the machine. Dents are probably unavoidable, but cracking as was the case with plastic, is now relegated to the past. The absolute advantage lies in the fact that we produced a cover – in steel – that matches the exact look the designer intended. This allows Rock-Zone to truly stand out in a highly competitive market!
